Practice and professional experience

Hartwig applies his broad expertise in the field of physics including the complex mathematics connected thereto to a wide range of case work in these technological fields including prosecution, opposition, litigation and revocation cases. After graduating with a degree in physics from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-university, Bonn, he worked as research associate at the Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices at Louisiana State University. He returned as a research associate to Bonn, obtained his PhD in Physics and stayed in Bonn as scientific assistant while obtaining his habilitation (the formal qualification for a professorship) in Physics. He received training in IP law at Westphal, Mussgnug & Partner, legal studies at the University of Hagen, legal training at CEIPI (International Center of Industrial Property), German Patent and Trademark Office, Federal Patent Court, and State Court of Mannheim.
